Pacific Gopher Snake - Hiouchi Flat (Redwood National and State Parks)
April 21, 2009

This specimen was caught during an invasive weed management project near the
Smith River.  The snake appeared out of a cluster of boulders that were adjacent
to some tarping used to choke off invasive vinca.  It became quite docile after just
a few bluffing strikes and some hissing.
